ABSTRACT

Agamemnon’s daughter Electra. But when the two children were babies Ilione had exchanged them, keeping the knowledge of their two identities to herself: so Polymestor killed his own son instead. At a later date Polydorus, who believed himself to be Deipylus, went to the Delphic Oracle, which told him that his city had been burnt, his father killed, and his mother enslaved. Finding all well at home, he taxed his mother with the oracle, and was told his true identity; whereupon together they killed Polymestor.
