ABSTRACT
Although ‘banal’ or ‘ubiquitous’ violence is now endemic in many Latin American cities, little is known about how this affects the daily lives of the urban poor. The PUA methodology gave voice to local members of eighteen research communities in Colombia and Guatemala to describe how they themselves perceived the multiple complexity of daily violence. The methodological tools also visually illustrate how associated perceptions of fear and insecurity were spatially manifested.
