As we saw in Chapter 1, one of the first possible instances of electronic communication familiar to current users of email came in 1973 when Leonard Kleinrock wished to recover a razor: logging onto ARPANET and using a program called TALK, Kleinrock found a US delegate willing to retrieve his precious razor.
