ABSTRACT
The focus of our book has been on understanding the development of the global economy through the lens of international political economy, an analysis rooted in the ways political and economic processes are intertwined. We have worked to help you understand what has happened, the various reasons for these developments, and the consequences. In the concluding chapter, we hope to do three things. First, provide a basic overview of some of the main issues discussed and how the study of international political economy provides unique and valuable insights. Second is to think about how the global economy might develop in the near future, perhaps over the next twenty years. Third, we reflect on some of the important controversies brewing in international political economy.
