ABSTRACT

ERIC GICHIRA Is Kenyan theatre dead? I’d like to take a hard and unsentimental look at this

question. In a sense, there’s little or nothing in our theatres that can be termed

‘Kenyan theatre’. Thus, where this phrase is used, I have to mean theatre with

a Kenyan cast, or written by a Kenyan. For purposes of identity, we Kenyans

rush to identify anything put on our stage as ‘Kenyan theatre’. God forbid.
