ABSTRACT

WOJCIECH MAJCHEREK There is nothing the Poles like more than to complain. To a routine question like

‘How’s it going?’, a Pole will respond with a martyred air, ‘Badly’, even if he has

just returned from a holiday in Majorca. Maybe social psychologists could explain

in some way the phenomenon of our national discontent. Anyway, it is not the

reasons for but the consequences of such an approach that are significant. My

compatriots would find a source of dissatisfaction in any domain of their lives.

Naturally, in the theatre, too.
