Study of city marketing and urban image construction in post-Mao Beijing reveals

twenty-fi ve years. The case studies presented in earlier chapters demonstrate how
socio-spatial practices unveil the overt and covert values that dominate that society
and expose the power struggles that defi ne, transform and ultimately remake it.
