ABSTRACT
This chapter gives a brief overview of the research methods used for the investigation. It commences with a description of general research strategy and the data collection methods used. As a prelude to the more detailed results contained in Chapters 5 to 8, the chapter then describes exploratory research that took place before case study work commenced. This was an important precursor to later investigations and, among other things, was used to identify and select four non-union organisations for more detailed investigation.
