ABSTRACT
In a book of this sort it is probably not worth spending too long considering the evolutionary basis of animal and human behaviour, particularly as it is covered in other titles in this series, and other books have considered these issues with much more relevance than would be possible here (Colgan, 1989; Wong, 2000). This theory stems from Darwin’s theory of evolution as set out in The Origin of Species (Darwin, 1859).
