ABSTRACT
Despite what some of the planning guidelines say about extensions being made to look like subordinate structures, I believe that unless the requirements of the Planning Authority force you down the ‘subordinate route’ the objective when designing an extension, if at all possible, should be to make it look like part of the original structure and not an afterthought.
