ABSTRACT
As explained previously, Chapters 4 and 5 are an analytic pair. This chapter continues the overview of the significance of place, with reference primarily to the Welsh study but also along the way to research from elsewhere. The chapter is structured according to the local and domestic spatial domains, with a distinction being made between the area surrounding home and school (local) and the home itself (domestic). Considerably more attention is given to the local dimension of place identity.
