ABSTRACT
Research reports are one thing, action by teachers quite another, often several light years away from each other. Unit 4 from the 2001 book Explaining in the Secondary School, shows how teachers can use research findings, perspectives and procedures, not as something to copy, but as a means of taking charge of their own competence by improving their own ability to explain clearly.
