ABSTRACT

Margaret Evans, who lived during the eighteenth century in Llanberis in Caernarfonshire, was said to have been the best hunter, shooter and fisher of her generation. She owned many fine dogs, which allegedly killed more foxes in a year than the local hunting packs did in a decade. Her other sporting talents included rowing and wrestling, excelling at the latter against male competition, allegedly even at the ripe old age of 70.
