ABSTRACT

In the last chapter, the features of electronic text have been presented both from the point of view of its support and of its communicative and linguistic peculiarity. In this chapter, we will focus in particular on one kind of text produced by computers: hypertext. Hypertext deserves particular attention not only for historical reasons, since it gave rise to the web and the consequent diffusion of the internet, but also for theoretical ones, since the success of electronic hypertext put under discussion the very concept of ‘text’.
