ABSTRACT

In this chapter one of the most used and best known ‘objects’ of the internet will be presented and analysed in detail: the website, which we introduced in Chapter 2, defined by Webopedia as:

Websites will be approached not as being just technological artefacts – which they also are, indeed – but from the point of view of communication, which is (one of) their structural purpose(s). To do so, the WCM will be presented (section 4.1).
