ABSTRACT
Narrative integration reflects the historical development of titles, intertitles, and expository text employing four expositional modes that remain constant throughout the history of title sequences. Each mode has both a simple and complex variant that depends on more self-conscious analysis. The Allegory mode is the most variable of the expositions since its link to narrative depends on the audience being able to decrypt the indirect association between the titles and the narrative.
