The Introduction to Love and Intimacy in Contemporary Society: Love in an International Context outlines the context of the book chapter by chapter. It shows how the book reflects on different aspects of relationships and the role of love and intimacy in framing lives. The Introduction also shows how the book draws on a range of perspectives, including sociological, cultural, feminist and gender theory. The chapters of the book show how love and intimacy is intersected by gender, ethnicity and sexuality and impacted by social networking and new technologies. The Introduction shows how the book reflects on love in a globalised world, as well as the representation of relations in the movies.
