ABSTRACT

Chapter 12 provides an analysis of the theoretical constructs of collectivisation and coexistence as paradigms of natural resource governance. The proposal of a collective bargaining mechanism for agricultural landholders is offered within this chapter as a vehicle that may be harnessed to improve farmer negotiation positioning in unconventional gas access agreements. Exploring the challenges and possibility of this proposed vehicle is both timely and contemporary, given the political interest in ameliorating the position of agricultural landowners and land access arrangements in the specific jurisdictions.
