ABSTRACT
I met with my high school’s principal in her office after school in 2012. It was the end of May, and I was seeking permission to conduct The Whiteness Project in our theatre program the following year. I needed my principal’s permission to proceed with the project, because she required directors in our school’s theatre program to get her approval for our plays. This was the case after she was offended by our program’s decision to stage the play Urinetown as our fall musical in 2011.
