ABSTRACT

Several types of knots can be tied, but in the film industry there are at least four knots that grips will use on a daily basis: Bowline, Clove hitch, Half hitch, and Square knot. Bowline knot is used to hang anything that is a dead hang, or a straight pull-down. After grips have read the instructions on how to tie this knot, practice it on several items. The clove hitch is the knot most commonly used to tie off a dead hanging object. Always put a half hitch in rope tail after having secured the knot. This provides a little extra safety. The half hitch knot is nothing more than an extra little safety tie in locking knot. Grips use a half hitch every time grips tie shoes. The square knot is the knot used most often to tie up a bundle of cable. This knot is also commonly used to secure bundles of tubes together.
