ABSTRACT

The research association that accepted our request for co-operation was the British Launderers’ Research Association. In 1967 the Association’s balance sheet showed that it had assets of just under £100,000. The Association employs a staff of about seventy, most of whom are scientists and technologists of some distinction in their own field as judged by their publications and attendances at appropriate conferences. One of the technical officers of the Association makes one half-day visit to each member firm per year, partly to discuss anything of interest to the laundry, partly to give technical advice on specific matters. The Association has an extensive programme of education, conferences and information and library services. Many of these activities bring the Launderers’ Association into contact with other research associations and also with similar bodies abroad. Membership of the Council certainly enables individual launderers to be fully informed of association activities and of the opportunities available to members.
