ABSTRACT
How does technology relate to rigor? As with any instructional tool, educational technology is critical to increasing rigor in the classroom. However, it is important to remember that technology is just a tool. How you utilize it is more important. I’ve seen teachers take rudimentary technology and make huge strides with their students, and I’ve seen teachers with unlimited technological resources who wasted them on low-level activities. We need to always focus on the instructional part of instructional technology. Why should we use technology for instruction, other than that students like it? Because it increases student achievement, according to the Center for Applied Research in Educational Technology (a project of the International Society for Technology in Education).
