ABSTRACT

WHEN the German High Command made its first request for an armistice in early October 1918 most members of the youth movement were still in the army. They were subject to military discipline, and if they had any particular ideas or suggestions concerning the state of the world they were prevented from communicating them to others. But there were other members of the movement who had not been conscripted, or had been in valided out, and they resumed political activities during the final stage of the war.
