ABSTRACT
It seems an extraordinary thing that, while we are sometimes taught to teach, it is very seldom that we are taught how to learn. Comparatively little attention has been paid to the conditions necessary for the systematic study of a subject, and most of us simply “pick things up” in a more or less haphazard manner. We therefore propose to enumerate some of the essential conditions.
