ABSTRACT

BUDDHA declared certain questions of a distinctly metaphysical character to be unanswerable. For a correct understanding of the Mādhyamika system it is necessary that the 'silence' of Buddha should be properly appraised. It is our contention that the Mādhyamika dialectic is anticipated in essentials by Buddha. The Mādhyamikas have but systematically formulated his suggestions and drawn out their implications fully. 1
