ABSTRACT

Before we discuss further the Hwa Yen doctrines of Non-Obstruction and Totality, let us first read a dialogue which may mitigate the wistful skepticism that by now must have arisen in the reader's mind concerning the "illogical" and fantastic statements he has just read in these Hwa Yen sources. This dialogue might have taken place in the classroom of any Chinese monastery where the doctrine of Hwa Yen was being preached.
