ABSTRACT
The world of the Aztecs could hardly have been more different from that of the !Kung San. However, in turning to analyse the remarkable politics of this nonindustrial society of Middle America, the same approach which has been outlined and illustrated in previous chapters will be applied here to help reveal the nature of the contrast and also to underline and extend the general argument.
