ABSTRACT

Boko Haram insurgents have targeted schools – killing, maiming, burning, kidnapping, raping school children. Their most widely cited school atrocity is the April 14th, 2014 mass kidnap of 276 girls from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State. However, the mass cremation of students in Buni Yadi and the mass throat slittings at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi were more gruesome school attacks. The horrific deaths and the systematic extermination of students placed these, the Government Secondary School, Mamudo massacre and a few others on the totem pole of BH atrocities against schools (as shown in Figure 8.1).
