ABSTRACT

68Children and adults spend a great deal of time trying to cope with tough times and problems, and in today’s world, there seem to be more and more issues that we need to overcome. But being able to cope is not a simple process because you should know how to solve problems effectively and lots of people just don’t know how to do this. If an adult or a child doesn’t know how to deal with difficult emotions or how to handle problems that are thrown at them, then they can lose their way and react in ways that are not appropriate or productive. And this is when they can get into all sorts of difficulties. So, children (and adults) need to develop their problem-solving skills. But, ‘solving problems’ can sound slightly negative because we’re focusing on the problem. So why not think of it in a more positive light by seeing it as ‘seeking solutions’ instead, so that the focus is on the solution.
