ABSTRACT
Before this rule was originally enacted in 1919, it was common for valuers to add additional sums to the value of the land as a solatium to the owner who was being compulsorily
acquired. However, rule (1) does not forbid the home loss payment that is payable under section 29, or the basic and occupier’s loss payments, payable under section 29, and section 33A to 33I, of the Land Compensation Act 1973: see Chapter 18.
