ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 explores the introduction for the book. This chapter introduces the reader to the topic of the dark side of the workplace. This chapter focuses on introducing the different types of behaviors related to incivility and dysfunction, and deviant behaviors. This chapter explores how these behaviors present themselves in both society and the workplace. Through the use of examples, and by defining behaviors experienced in the workplace, the reader is able to understand the layout of the book. In addition, the author explores the topic of incivility in society and how these behaviors are integrating themselves into the workplace as our personal and professional lives become more integrated. Finally, Chapter 1 explores each of the subsequent chapters to provide context to the reader on the direction of the book and the topics that will be covered.
