ABSTRACT

In the last chapter I moved between ‘eyesight’ and ‘insight’ . I shall expand the metaphor in an attempt to disclose what I mean by ‘vision’ . Insight is a central notion in ‘Romantic psychotherapy’, of which the Conversational Model is one example. ‘Romantic’ is often a bad word for hard-headed scientists but, as Ellenberger 1 has clearly shown, the roots of dynamic psychotherapy and psychiatry (including the theories and practice of Freud and Jung) lie deep in the Romantic tradition.
