ABSTRACT

The angular velocity of somersault rotations especially in diving, artIstIc gymnastics, and trampoline has increased in the last few years. Using own state-ofthe-art analyses of the increase in the angular velocity in rapid somersault rotations in gymnastics and diving the highest level of this parameter was found with the 4 'li somersaults forwards tucked in diving (approximately 1300 deg/s) and the handspring and double somersaults forwards tucked in gymnastics (approximately 1200 deg/s). This rapid somersault rotation is a high request on the visual control and motor coordination as well as induce load on the vestibular apparatus.
