ABSTRACT

This paper seeks to estimate the economic impact of Golf on the UK economy. Without any multiplier effect (which could reasonably be estimated at a further 150–200%) the values arrived at are approximately £3,000,000,000. In addition, before taking account of Income Tax on salaries, or tax on the profits of companies within the industry, Golf Facilities and Golfers contribute annually nearly £300,000,000 to Local and Central Government – equivalent to some £14 per UK household.
