ABSTRACT

The next group of experiments investigates the development of the notion of order or sequence. Five main points are examined—the reproduction of linear order, transposition of circular order into simple linear order, establishment of reverse order, direct or reverse order of stacking (of pieces of washing), reproducing a string of beads arranged in a figure of eight. For all except the stacking experiments large coloured beads threaded on rods or strings are used and for the stacking a collection of doll’s clothing.
