ABSTRACT
This paper is an exploratory one: it aims to bring into contact related developments in social and developmental psychology by focusing specifically on the question: how does the developing child construe his social and personal world? While we will not present a definite solution to this, a number of strands of research can be woven together to provide the canvas on which a picture can be sketched.
