ABSTRACT

At all points in this critical analysis of the Piagetian system the central problem to emerge has been the relation of logic and mathematics to Actuality and to each other. This is the form in which we have expressed the nature of the object of epistemological study, that is, the relation of knowledge to being, involving, too, the relationship of subject to object. The problem emerging from this has been centrally important in one form or another throughout the history of Western thought.
