Science communication is an area that has become more attractive as a career for science-trained individuals. “I teach a science writing course nearly every semester, and science students weighing a career change sometimes make up half the class,” notes Sharon Dunwoody, a professor of journalism at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. “I even get the occasional scientist, who usually participates in a nondegree capacity.”
