ABSTRACT
A Richmond resident wrote to tell Robinson in November 1900 that he had given up his first-class season ticket between Richmond and Waterloo as he thought £16 a year exorbitant. To discourage traffic via the Central London Railway, he said, the South Western had taken off several trains between Richmond and Shepherds Bush. Although it was rather quicker by train than by horse tram between Gunnersbury and Shepherds Bush, the trains could not be relied on as they were sometimes 15 minutes late.
