ABSTRACT
The biological model of mental illness supposes that mental disorders are the result of physical processes. More specifically, the central nervous system (CNS) is thought to be the seat of mental activity, so mental disorders are seen as central nervous system disorders. Thus, a working familiarity of the anatomy and physiology of the CNS is necessary to understand the biological models of mental illness.
