ABSTRACT
Psychosis is one of the most debilitating of the psychiatric syndromes. When psychiatrists say a person is psychotic, they mean is that he or she is experiencing impaired reality testing. Impaired reality testing specifically refers to either delusional thinking or hallucinatory perceptions. Psychosis is the cardinal feature of schizophrenia, but it may result from many causes.
