ABSTRACT

WITHOUT DEFINING THE TERM, we considered the community in the previous chapter. As we shall see presently, a localized society, whether urban-or rural-oriented, is a community. While our interest is primarily in the cosmopolitan community, we need a term that will include the most urban as well as the least urban segments of society, whether found in a more advanced or a less advanced country. Since "community" serves so many uses for many different people, we must try to make clear what it means in this book.
