The first, the debate over scepticism , raises the question of whether we have knowledge. The second asks the question ‘what is knowledge?’. In the discussion, we also look at the related concepts of belief and justification. The third asks the metaphysical question about whether only particular things exist, or whether we can also say that their properties exist too. We then step back to discuss whether metaphysics is, in fact, possible. Our final topic regards the status of knowledge – can it be objective? Students should be able to argue for and against different positions within each of these debates.
