ABSTRACT

You will soon discover that seeking a predoctoral internship in professional psychology is unlike anything you have previously experienced. At first, the process will resemble applying to college or graduate school. The paperwork required is similar, and your anxieties will be much the same. But you will soon learn that applying for internship is different. When you call programs to inquire about the status of your application or innocently ask how things look, some may respond like CIA agents being interviewed by Mike Wallace, saying that they are not allowed to provide such information. When you request interviews, you may find that some places do not allow interviews and that others interview only those whom they invite and then only on one or two designated days.
