ABSTRACT

Having looked at a number of approaches to learning in the previous chapter, we now need to examine the fields of adult education and lifelong learning more broadly and to investigate some of the writings about adult learning that have been produced in recent years. This chapter, which is closely linked to the previous one, highlights the work of seven major writers, each of whom, in their various ways, has contributed to our understanding of adult learning. I have omitted both Kolb's and my own work here because this was quite fully discussed in the previous chapter.
