ABSTRACT
Mushereib’s inspiration is drawn from Qatar’s Vision 2030 guidelines1 set by the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Missned. This underlines the transformation of Qatar into a country sustaining its own development, on the understanding that the oil and gas that gave it the world’s second highest per capita income are finite resources. Accordingly, their Qatar Foundation, established in 1995, with its own landscaped campus masterplanned by Arata Isozaki, has fostered schemes such as Education City, a 2500-acre campus on the outskirts of the city, and the Qatar Science and Technology Park, flagship projects to help the city realise its knowledge-based economy.
