ABSTRACT

I magine that you wake up one morning, look at yourself in the mirror, and notice that there is a little more of you there than you remember seeing just a few years ago. You know you have been less active in recent years, you have not been watching what you eat, and certainly you can blame your slowing metabolism for at least part of the change. Whatever the cause, you determine that it is time to lose some weight. However, before you begin, you know that you should see your doctor to find out how bad your situation is and what you can do to remedy it. You know that the doctor is not going to have good news for you, but you know that the diagnostic feedback provided by your doctor is important for successful pursuit of your goal to lose weight, as well as your long-term goals of good health and longevi-ty. What factors will influence your decision to visit your doctor?
