ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the use of computational simulation in the design and construction of high-performance homes. A general review of simulation principles is followed by a detailed summary of the tools that best support the attainment of highperformance benchmarks. Energy, lighting and airfow are the three main domains defning the feld of building simulations. The various forms of analysis made possible by their respective tools are also discussed, as are the limitations and the range of possibilities which exist for implementing them in the pursuit of high-performance homes.
