ABSTRACT

The East Asia Vision Group recommended the creation of an East Asian community in its report in 2001. From then onward, the formation of an East Asian community became one of the major topics regarding the political economy in East Asia. Policymakers have searched for possible ways to create such community at the frameworks of ASEAN +3 (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations plus China, Japan, and South Korea) and the East Asia summit (EAS). Scholars have examined necessary conditions to realise the community at the international, regional, and domestic levels.
