Some institutions introduced in the chapter on UK institutional investments – including industry trade associations, securities lending participants and proxy voting services – do not exist at all, or to anything like the same extent in China. This book therefore focuses on the major types of institutional shareholders themselves, namely, securities investment funds, insurance companies, pension funds and Qualifi ed Foreign Institutional Investors.
